Few tips for choosing a first instrument
Choosing an instrument can be a very personal experience. It is always fun to try out a range of guitars with different shapes and tone woods to see what works best for your comfort and budget. We have several entry level guitars and keyboards to get started on your musical journey.
One of feature to look for when buying a keyboard is the dynamic response. This is the sound of the keys when you press them down. Is it soft when you play softly and loud when you play loud. Or does sound the same however you press the keys. If the sound changes the keyboard is velocity sensitive and you will be able to be more expressive when play the keyboard.
For getting started on the guitar you might want to hold a few and make that they are comfortable to hold while sitting. Make sure that your arm reaches the first fret and that there is bend in your elbow and the arm is not out straight.
When creating a budget for your instrument not only do you want to budget for the guitar but also be sure to include room for stands, cases, tuners, books, extra picks etc..to make sure that you have everything you need when you get home. When buying a acoustic guitar we recommend buying a tuner, strap, picks, capo, case or stand and a book. The same would go for electric guitar but I would an amplifier and cable as well. To get started with keyboard be sure to include a stand, bench and sustain pedal if it is not included.
